Cozy doesn't have to mean empty
There's a lazy idea that cozy games are just pretty screensavers you tap sometimes. The good ones are much smarter than that. They hide real systems under a calm surface.
Take a fishing sim or a tavern deckbuilder. Both look gentle, but both ask you to make decisions that matter. The coziness is in the pacing and the mood, not in the absence of thought.
What I look for is a game that lets me set my own intensity. Play it fast and focused, or slow and meandering, and both feel right. That flexibility is the real secret sauce.
If you think you don't like cozy games, you might just have played the shallow ones. There's a whole shelf of relaxing games that respect your brain.
