Why I finally started finishing mobile games

April 27, 2026 · Lena Vogel

My phone was a graveyard of games I played for twenty minutes and abandoned. This year I decided to actually finish a few, and it changed how I review things.

The key was picking games with real endings instead of endless loops. An adventure like a hand-drawn exploration game gives you a place to stop and feel done. That satisfaction is rare and worth chasing.

I also started giving games a fair second session before quitting. So many of them front-load their weakest hour with clunky tutorials and only bloom later.

The lesson for reviewing was clear: a first impression is not a verdict. Some of my favorite games this year were ones I almost deleted on day one.
